Square Enix Announces Drakengard 3
Earlier today, Square Enix announced a new installment of the Drag-On Dragoon/Drakengard series (which is a little weird, considering its lead supervisor Taro Yoko took a break from game development after Nier) and gave a brief summary of the background behind the game’s events.
In the distant past when darkness swept the world with war and tyranny, Goddesses called “Utatai” saw mankind was suffering and descended on the world. These Goddesses use the magical power of songs to defeat warlords ruling the land. Peace was finally brought to this chaotic world. The Goddesses were worshiped for ending conflict and were entrusted control of the world. They became known as Utahime (divas).
One, a young Utatai, holds a strong desire to bring peace and balance to the world. She is poised to become unite all the Utatai and stand on the top of the world. One day, One’s older sister Zero shows up with a dragon. Zero is also an Utatai and said to be the strongest among them. Why did Zero suddenly show up in front of One? Why did she ally with a dragon? And what in the world are the Utatai? Darkness once again shrouds over the world.
In the game, you control Zero, the more “promiscuous” of the two sisters and definitely the better swordsman and warrior, which is a good thing, since you will definitely need to be up to the task of slaying hundreds of enemies at a time.
The game is going to arrive later this year exclusively on the PS3 in Japan, with no confirmed word of a North American or European release date yet.
XSEED Announces Pandor’a Tower For North American Release
Operation Rainfall appears to have been successful, because Nintendo and XSEED have reached a deal to publish Pandora’s Tower for the North American region! Nintendo Unleashes Slew Of Release Dates
Nintendo has been on a roll today, announcing release estimates for many high-profile and desired titles and features (besides the current download for the Wii U for “stability purposes”). Wii Fit U has been announced for the first half of 2013, with Pikmin 3 and Lego City Undercover slated for early 2013. Luigi’s Mansion: Dark Moon has also been scheduled for a spring 2013 release.
By far, though, Nintendo Direct’s biggest news is the street date for Fire Emblem: Awakening, which has been announced for February 4. Mark your calendars, strategy fans, the epic 3DS exclusive is on its way soon!
Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 Plus Has New Hero Mode
Still new to Ninja Gaiden? The Vita port of (arguably) the best Ninja Gaiden game has a new Hero mode to give rookies a more easy and laid back approach into the game’s mechanics. Take advantage of it if you want to get used to the game before going through a more difficult mode.
A new mode titled Ninja Race also lets you speedrun through different levels trying to get a best score and time. Another new feature is the tag mission mode, letting you get more time with Ayane, Rachel, and Momiji. The game comes out late February in Japan with a US and EU release date supposedly soon after.
Now the only question is… will the “juggling” feature for the female characters remain?
LA Noire Developer Has New Title Schedule For 2015
KMM Interactive (aka Team Bondi) is planning work on a new game titled Whore of the Orient, a similar narrative-based game with supposedly similar story-emphasized aspects that won’t begin full production until 2013. According to Kotaku, speculation is that the game will be released on the next-gen consoles and will likely be more linear and focused than large and expansive, but will still use the motion capture that set LA Noire apart from other games.
Many are still skeptical about the timeframe of the game, especially considering it took seven years to release LA Noire, but the 1930s Shanghai thriller still might possibly make that timeframe if the game is slightly more constrained than the sandbox behemoth that LA Noire was.
Not much else is known about the title, other than that the team is looking for some new prospective talent to help with development of the game.
