Tales Of Xillia Officially Confirmed For Western Release
Namco Bandai have finally stepped forward and officially stated that Tales of Xillia will see both North American and European releases. While no specific release date was given, the window of 2013 was put forward.
While this misses the release date of the sequel for the game in Japan, it does look as though its sequel will be released if sales are strong enough on foreign shores. Tales of Xillia was the most pre-ordered Tales game of all time and one of the strongest selling Tales titles in Japan as well, with only Tales of Destiny 2 outselling it.
Japanese gamers who pre-order the title will receive a short story book that covers some of the ground between the first game and its sequel, which takes place a year after the events of the first Xillia.
Game Jouhou has also reported that in addition to the book, three new costumes for three characters will be added to the game if you pre-order it as well.
A special Tales Of Xillia 2 X Edition will cost more, but will include a specially designed controller made specifically for the game. Famitsu will also release a DX bundle as well, including a stuffed plush of Ludgar’s cat, Lulu, a tapestry, a mug, and a clear file.
Weekly Shounen Jump magazine also reported that Alvin and Leia will appear in the sequel, but did not specify in what manner they would appear.
There is still no concrete word on a North American release date for this game or its predecessor, but Namco Bandai have been dropping sporadic hints that both will cross the sea to new borders in the future.
Tales Of Xillia 2 Trailer Shows Off!
Watch the ability to make choices that affect the outcome of the game and the triple battle styles the main character, Ludgar, can use!
Early this morning, Namco Bandai announced the next Tales game. It’s a full-fledged sequel to Tales of Xillia, and it’s again exclusive to the PS3. Events in the game take place a year after the original ToX and stars Ludgar as the protagonist with his cat, Lulu.
Ufotable will again provide animation for the anime cutscenes in the game, with Ayumi Hamasaki singing the theme song to the game. ToX2’s battle system will be a modified “Cross Double-Raid Linear Motion Battle System” (CD-R LiMBS).
Though the current release date is only “Winter 2012” for Japan, this is also around the time that the rumored Tales of Xillia North American and PAL release is supposedly coming as well. More on the game will come on the 27th.
Though the game has been out since mid-2011 in Japan (and is one of the few games to ever get a perfect rating from Famitsu), Tales of Graces F in North America has already proven enough of a hit for Namco Bandai to seriously consider another localization. Though the trademark is only in Europe so far, it looks as though Namco Bandai will be bringing it to Europe (who didn’t get Tales of Graces F) and North America in the future.
Namco Bandai has released some new, nifty screenshots from the game coming out next month in the NA region! Be sure to check them all out!
