If you’re unaware, Black Mesa Source has been released! The game and it’s soundtrack are completely free. Also, it was approved in Steam’s Greenlight, so watch out for it there too!
We seem to be a little late on this, so I must apologize, but the long awaited Half-Life 2 mod has finally updated. If you don’t know what the Black Mesa project is, it’s a port of the first Half-Life game to the Source engine.
You can read more about the mod here and read about launch details here.
Thanks to imaginatively-speaking for the tip.
Source Filmmaker is now open to the public. Not only do you get the ”Meet The Heavy” work files, you also get ”Meet The Engineer” to riff off of.
Best part still though is, it’s all free. Download it here, or if you don’t have Steam, pick that up over here.
GoldenEye: Source is a total conversion modification of Half-Life 2. It is a fan made artistic recreation, released for free, with only one goal in mind; to bring the memories and experiences from the original GoldenEye64 back to life using Source Technology.

Black Mesa: Source - Trailer
For those of you that do not know yet, an independent team has taken the Half Life 2 engine and applied it to the Half Life 1 game. It has yet to be released and the Black Mesa team still states “We have always gone for a ‘when it’s done’ approach.”
The project is going to be a free mod for the game. Well, at least until Valve decides to hire the team like the previous big Half Life mod, Garry’s Mod.
