Halo 4’s Box Art!

The game is set to be released on November 6th. The big picture was cut up into 32 pieces, then sent to 32 different fans, titling the message “Your Piece of the Halo 4 Puzzle”. Say what you want about the Halo series, but their marketing team is nothing short of brilliant.

Halo 4 Coming In November

November 6, to be precise. Halo 4 is the return of Master Chief to the frontlines of a new war- one where he will face his destiny and fight against an ancient threat to the entire universe. The story begins four full years after the events of Halo 3, also bringing back Cortana, Master Chief’s AI companion, as well.

“We are beginning a new saga with ‘Halo 4’ and embarking on a journey that will encompass the next decade of ‘Halo’ games and experiences,” said Phil Spencer, corporate vice president of Microsoft Studios. “Millions of fans worldwide have been eagerly awaiting the opportunity to step back into the boots of Master Chief, and, with ‘Halo 4’ leading the charge, we’re confident 2012 will be the most successful year in Xbox history.”

Strong words, Mr. Spencer. Let’s hope 343 will deliver that caliber.

Tonight, Conan O’Brien will be airing a special segment (on at 11pm PDT/10pm CDT) celebrating the history of Halo and its future launch on the XBox 360. Be sure to watch it!

Bungie gives Halo a final goodbye

As of yesterday, March 31st, 2012, Halo player data is no longer being held on Bungie’s servers.

Said the Bungie website, “We have followed your careers with great interest here on Bungie.net, and you have gifted us a mountain of heroic moments to memorialize… It is with a sense of awe that we step back and admire the impact that you have had on our games, and upon our studio. Thanks for sharing your stories with us.”

A gigantic infographic was also released commemorating this milestone in Bungie’s history.
