Borderlands to get Patch to Help Test Borderlands 2 Tech, Adds Steamworks
Gearbox has announced a new patch to come September 9 for the PC version of Borderlands The patch will be adding Steamworks and will also be used to test some new systems development studio that Gearbox wants to incorporate into the upcoming Borderlands 2.
“This technology, dubbed B-Test for this patch, is about increasing the relationship between you and us,” —Randy Pitchford talking about the patch at the Gearbox panel at PAX
The new tech will let Gearbox know “which guns suck”, which areas aren’t being visited, and other info.
“This will allow us to make better games,” —he continued
He also decided to add in:
“The addition of Steamworks support will help people not lose their saves, which people will be able to save in the cloud.”
In other news: Gearbox also gave away free codes to everyone who attended their PAX panel which guarantees them a free copy of Borderlands 2 when it launches. Full video can be seen on Kotaku.
