With the International playoffs starting up on the 8th, Valve has revealed many details about the tournament through the Dota 2 website. This information includes just exactly how the $10 million prize pool - the biggest prize pool in the history of eSports - is going to be split. The first place team will receive 46% of the total, or rather, almost $4.8 million. On the other end, teams coming in 13 and 14th place will receive 0.2% of the pot, which still comes out to over $20,000.
In addition, Valve also announced their plans for streaming the International games. Users will be capable of ‘DVR-ing’ matches they’re interested in watching later, and Valve will also be rolling out a Multicast option for Phase Two of the event which will allow users to watch action from four games at once.
Valve has also announced the Newcomers Broadcast feature. This will give users who are new to the game an opportunity to watch games in the International with commentary designed to help these users understand the games better as they watch.

NEW DOTA INSPIRED GAME: Smite
So apparently a new DoTA inspired game, Smite, premiered it’s trailer this past weekend at the Penny Arcade eXpo. It is being developed by Hi-Rez studios. You may know them as the creators of the very popular, and recently free-to-play, mmo known as Global Agenda. The new DoTA plans to come out with a roster of about 20 different playable characters.
All the characters in Smite seem to revolve around different types of mythology. The game itself is very similar to DoTA (or LoL for those unfamiliar with DoTA ) except for the fact that this game will be in third-person view. How will this change gameplay? Who knows, it might just give us for of an MMORPG feel. Especially with the controls being WASD instead of right click.
The game is going to be release for free-to-play, like many other MMOs. No release date has been confirmed for Smite but Hi-Rez studios is planning a closed beta testing sometime before the end of this year.
