Another Yoshi Revealed in Mario Tennis Open

My words, I should have gotten this out as soon as it was announced. Lost track of time (about 12 hours) but it’s going up! Pink Yoshi QR code for all, as long as you have Mario Tennis Open. Would be wonderful if you could fly around in Kid Icarus: Uprising with him, but alas. He’s sticking to tennis, baby-wrangling and other random sports.

Reminder for the code: On the File Select Screen, hit Up on the D-Pad and press Start. Enjoy!

Mario Tennis Open QR Codes, Available For… Not All

In a twist I personally did not know, it seems that QR codes, which Nintendo is using to handle extra characters and such for MTO, can actually be region-locked. I thought it was too fishy when I first heard they were going the QR route for specific locations on the globe. Someone can just grab and copy the code online, I thought. Nope! Sorry for those (including me) that thought it could be easier.

As far as North America goes, here are Red Yoshi and Blue Yoshi (a facebook poll, apparently). I found out about this from the Swap Note app on my 3DS, but (like I said) someone’s already put it up for those without Nintendo Club accounts: Yoshi outfit.

For you UKers, a Black Yoshi distribution is in the works for the 25th and 26th (aka like, now). Check the link to see if any of the Asda stores that will have the codes are near you! Sadly, like the other NA codes, the Black Yoshi code is region-locked. Australians also have a special on both Black AND White Yoshi.

The official Nintendo site also hints at Pink Yoshi to be found on a game site. The obvious choice it blurts out doesn’t seem to have any sort of code at the moment. As soon as the code goes out, it’ll go here.

EDIT: Just in case anyone glosses over how to get the codes.

  • Boot the game up
  • On the Select File screen
  • Press up on the D-Pad and press Start
  • Repeat until you get what you want

TV Commercial for Mario Tennis Open

So, here’s the official television commercial for Mario Tennis Open in North America. Not much else to say about it. Oh, and here’s some Japanese commercials as well. Anyway, Mario Tennis Open will be coming to the 3DS on May 20 (May 24 in Japan, May 25 in Europe).

Also, don’t forget that the Midnight Purple 3DS will be available on the same day.

New 3DS Colour On The Way: Midnight Purple

Nintendo has announced a new colour for the 3DS, which will be launching on May 20. The Midnight Purple 3DS will be coming on the same day Mario Tennis Open launches.

It will be the fifth 3DS colour, as it joins the Cosmo Black, Aqua Blue, Flame Red, and Pearl Pink systems. Woohoo!

15 Minutes of Fire Emblem: Awakening Gameplay!

Japanese gaming website 4Gamer has posted a 15 minute video showcasing a number of amazing features from the game including gameplay and a full intro trailer as well. Still no word on a North American release, but with all the hype buzzing around the game, it would be a shame for Nintendo to decide to not release it.

Be sure to check out the amazing quality of the game!

Wii U Games Will Be Sold At Retail And As Digital Downloads

We reported yesterday that not much is going to be said as far as price and timing goes for the Wii U at E3 this year. Well, another announcement that Nintendo has stated is that Wii U games will be sold at retail locations and on Nintendo’s online eShop, likely at a discounted price to combat the used game market.

Nintendo has also announced that retail 3DS games will soon be sold as digital downloads as well from the eShop. Looks like Nintendo really favored what Sony did with the Vita.
