Nintendo Confirms Selling 3DS At A Loss
Earlier this morning, Nintendo confirmed that the $80 price slash has actually made selling a new 3DS have a loss at Nintendo’s expense, according to their lackluster earnings report. While this has been speculation since the slash, Nintendo had never confirmed such a rumor until today.
The company also announced that it intends to turn this around as well as its disappointing financial situation, saying,

”Nintendo expects to cease selling it below cost by the middle of the fiscal year ending March 31, 2013.”

It’s unknown if the price of manufacturing the console itself will go down or if this signifies a price increase of the system.
